PhilanthropyAs the founder of Tomorrow's Classroom, my goal goes beyond providing classroom furniture and supplies to schools. That's why a portion of each purchase is automatically donated to Child Find of America, Inc. - a top-rated non-profit organization by CharityWatch.org (American Institute of Philanthropy) and Independent Charities of America. Anna Christian Waters - MissingWhile surfing the Web one afternoon, I discovered the story of Anna Christian Waters - a child abducted from her home in Half Moon Bay in San Mateo County, California, during broad daylight. She was last seen playing outside her home around 2:00 - 2:15 p.m. on January 16, 1973. She was only five (5) years old. In the beginning, Anna's family, friends and investigators believed she had fallen into Purisima Creek, located near the family's home, and drowned. The area around the creek and the waters were searched but no trace of Anna was found. With time, investigators and her family started to suspect foul play was involved in her disappearance. Her step-brother recently told his family he remembered a strange couple driving alongside Anna and trying in vain to tempt her into the vehicle. Several theories exist regarding Anna's abduction. Dough French (aka Dr. Doogie), Anna's Mom and the members of WebSleuths are researching every possible angle. Over the course of the last year, I have read every post on Anna's WebSleuths Forum. I'm not sure why Anna's story touched me so deeply. Perhaps because she is about my age. Perhaps because of the amazing people on WebSleuths dedicated to helping Anna's family. Or perhaps because as puzzling as Anna's disappearance is, there is no reason not to believe that she is alive today. Just this year, her DNA was compared to UIDs with no matches. No trace of Anna has never been found. Anna is the reason Tomorrow's Classroom donates monies to Child Find of America... Read more about Anna's case on the Doe Network: Case File 176DFCA. If you have any information concerning Waters' whereabouts, please contact the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office at 650-364-1811 (Case Number 730484). Helping to bring missing children home…There is nothing more vital to our future than our children. Yet 2300 are reported missing every day. That's 839,500 a year - almost one million. Just one is too many. My heart goes out to Anna's Mom and the rest of her family - as well as all of the other families missing a child. My prayers and thoughts are with you... Melanie Broemsen |
